13 Reasons Why is a Netflix original American teen drama series which was based on the novel of the same name by Jay Asher. The novel was released in 2007. The series follows 17-year-old high school student Clay Jensen and his deceased friend Hannah Baker who took her own life due to gossip, bullying and sexual assault at her high school and a lack of support from her friends, her family and her school. She left a box of cassette tapes recorded by her detailing why she chose to end her life. The show was very popular with its viewer so it got renewed for couple of more seasons.
